Marc Marquez fastest in Qatar sprint; Bagnaia suffers heavy crash
Marquez took his 10th sprint win of 2026 in Lusail; Bagnaia’s heavy fall brought out a red flag.

Marc Marquez delivered the fastest sprint at the Qatar Grand Prix in Lusail and took victory in the shortened MotoGP sprint on November 7, 2026, a race overshadowed by a heavy crash that brought out the red flag.
Crash and restart
The sprint — part of the 20th round of the season — began chaotically and was interrupted early when a collision involving Gresini rider Fermin Aldeguer sent Francesco Bagnaia into a heavy fall and forced race control to stop the action after one lap.
"🚩 RED FLAG! Pecco Bagnaia has suffered a heavy crash, bringing out the red flag. Hoping he’s okay. 🙏" — Everything Formula (@evrythngformu1a), November 7, 2026.
At the decisive phase in lap four, Marco Bezzecchi attacked on the inside and Marquez ran wide; when he rejoined the racing line the two made contact and Bezzecchi went down. Marquez stayed on track and, after a battle with Jorge Martin, pulled clear to secure his tenth sprint victory of the year in Lusail.
The result leaves Marquez 49 points ahead of Martin in the title fight, meaning he holds a match point for a 10th championship going into the full Grand Prix on Sunday, November 8, 2026. If Marquez wins the race and Martin fails to score points, Marquez can clinch the title.
Behind the podium trio — Marquez first, Fabio di Giannantonio second and Jorge Martin third — Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse), Joan Zarco (LCR Honda) and Pedro Acosta (KTM Racing) completed the top six. The other point scorers included Ai Ogura (second Trackhouse rider) and Enea Bastianini (Team Teh3).
The Qatar MotoGP race in the premier class is scheduled for Sunday at 17:00 on November 8, 2026.
