Bad news for Shkëndija coach Artim Polozani ahead of the derby against Struga TL: striker Marko Gjorgjievski will not be available for Monday’s match at the Football Federation of North Macedonia (FFM) after suffering a muscle strain.
Gjorgjievski’s latest problem is an apparent muscle pull that rules him out of the club’s final fixture of the 4th round. The injury adds to a run of absences for the forward and forces Polozani to rework his attacking options before what is expected to be a difficult encounter.
Recent absence and European form
Earlier this season Gjorgjievski had stood out in European competition, scoring two goals in two matches. However, he first picked up a problem during the warm-up before the derby with Vardar and subsequently missed the return leg against Hibernian as well as Shkëndija’s most recent league match with Bregalnica.
This will be the fourth match Gjorgjievski cannot be included in Shkëndija’s matchday squad. Losing their regular striker is a clear handicap for the Tetovo side, particularly when they face Struga TL—one of the strongest teams in the domestic top flight.
Polozani faces a selection headache and will have to find alternatives up front or adjust his tactical approach as Shkëndija prepares for Monday’s fixture at the FFM stadium.
