The U.S. Secretary of State will head the sixth round in Athens on October 6–7 to deepen cooperation on defence, regional security and energy.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Greece on October 6–7 and will personally head the American delegation in Athens for the Strategic Dialogue between the United States and Greece.
Rubio's presence in Athens will mark the first time an incumbent Secretary of State has personally led the U.S. delegation at the Strategic Dialogue since the forum was established.
Agenda and priorities
In Athens Rubio will lead the U.S. delegation at the sixth round of the Strategic Dialogue, a meeting intended to deepen bilateral cooperation on several key American priorities. Officials say the agenda will focus on strengthening defence ties, regional security and energy cooperation.
The talks are expected to bring together senior diplomats and experts from both sides to review progress and coordinate initiatives across military partnership, crisis management and energy projects with strategic implications for the broader region.
Greek and U.S. officials have in recent years expanded bilateral consultations across multiple fields; Rubio's personal leadership of the delegation underscores Washington's emphasis on the relationship and the listed priorities.
