Marcelo Brozović edging closer to Juventus move
Juventus have opened talks for the 33-year-old Croatian midfielder after his three-year spell at Al Nassr.
Marcelo Brozović is close to completing a high-profile return to Europe after leaving Saudi Arabia, where he spent the past three seasons with Al Nassr. Contacts with Juventus in Turin have intensified and the parties are said to be negotiating a deal that could be finalised soon.
The 33-year-old midfielder has made clear that he wants to test himself again in one of Europe’s top leagues rather than extend his spell in the Middle East. Juventus have shown interest in adding an experienced central midfielder, and Brozović — who spent eight seasons at Inter — fits their profile.
Experience and numbers
Brozović enjoyed a long and successful stint at Inter, where across eight years he recorded 31 goals and 43 assists in 330 appearances. He also totals 99 caps for the Croatia national team. After three years in Saudi Arabia he reportedly earned 100 million over that period, and is now free to refocus on top-level European football.
Throughout his career he has also represented Dinamo Zagreb, Lokomotiva and Hrvatski Dragovoljac. This summer his name has been linked with several clubs; he is reported to have declined an offer from Olympiacos and to have attracted speculative interest from Real Madrid, although those reports were never officially confirmed.
Brozović is understood to have a good relationship with coach Luciano Spalletti and would be open to joining Juventus despite his long history with Inter. Talks remain at the contact and negotiation stage, and both sides are expected to make a final decision in the coming days.
If completed, the transfer would be one of the most talked-about moves of the window, a notable coup for Juventus and a chance for Brozović to prove he still has plenty to offer on the biggest stages of European football.
