Martin Tomovski second-best goalkeeper in Handball-Bundesliga

Martin Tomovski continues to stand out in the German Handball-Bundesliga for SG BBM Bietigheim and, as of October 13, 2026, ranks as the competition's second-best goalkeeper.

Through eight matches he has recorded 96 saves with a save rate of 26.95%. Only David Späth of Rhein-Neckar Löwen sits ahead of him, with 103 saves in eight games. Notably, one of the world’s top keepers, Andreas Wolff, appears lower on the list than Tomovski.

Form that matters for national duty

Tomovski’s strong run comes at a key moment for North Macedonia: the national team is about to begin qualification for the 2028 European Championship, and the squad will also compete at the World Championship in January. His club form is therefore being watched closely by selectors and fans alike.

The Handball-Bundesliga is one of the toughest domestic leagues, where reaching the top requires consistent performances against very high-level opposition. Tomovski’s numbers this season show he is adapting well to that environment.

At club level his reliability between the posts has been an important factor for Bietigheim, helping the team remain competitive in a crowded field. If he keeps this level, his status among Europe's top goalkeepers could become permanent.
