Matej Angelov Returns to Bregalnica Shtip

On August 6, 2026, Matej Angelov — the captain of the North Macedonia national football team — officially returned to his boyhood club, Bregalnica Shtip. The midfield player rejoins the club from his hometown after several seasons with Rabotnicki.

Angelov first moved to Gradski Park as one of the country's most highly regarded young talents and later had a brief spell playing in Ukraine. His transfer back to Bregalnica completes a homecoming that the club announced on the same day.

He brings considerable top‑flight experience, having been promoted into Rabotnicki's senior squad at a young age and accumulated years in first‑division competition.

Bregalnica strengthen their squad

The addition of Angelov is designed to bolster Bregalnica as they prepare to compete in the Macedonian First Football League (PMFL) following their recent promotion back to the top tier. Club officials presented the signing as a move to improve their chances in the upcoming season.

Angelov will occupy the linking midfield role and is expected to add leadership on and off the pitch, given his status as national team captain and his familiarity with the region.

Supporters in Shtip welcomed the return of a hometown player with top‑level experience, and Bregalnica will now integrate Angelov into preparations ahead of the PMFL campaign.
