Matej Belistojanovski reaches Mediterranean Games final and will contest gold

Skopje — North Macedonian karateka Matej Belistojanovski has secured a place in the final of the Mediterranean Games in Taranto and is guaranteed at least a silver medal.

Competing in the up-to-67 kg division, Belistojanovski reached the title match after three clear victories in the elimination rounds.

Road to the final

In the round of 16 he defeated Almasalmeh of Syria with a score of 6:1, and in the quarterfinal he edged past Italy's Mareska 2:0.

In the semifinal Belistojanovski produced a confident performance to beat Baliotis of Greece 5:1 and move into the gold-medal bout.

For the Mediterranean Games gold he will face Boran Berak of Croatia in the final.
