Man arrested near White House after agents find three firearms; he said voices told him to kill Trump

A man was arrested near the White House after Secret Service agents found multiple firearms in his car, including a rifle, the Department of Homeland Security said.

Officials: suspect claimed voices told him to travel to Washington and kill President Trump

Authorities say the suspect told officers that voices in his head instructed him to travel to Washington and kill President Donald Trump. The man — identified by officials as a Venezuelan national — is in the United States illegally, the Department said.

Agents discovered three firearms and dozens of rounds of ammunition inside the vehicle, which had previously been reported stolen. The arrest took place on the evening of Thursday, November 5, 2026, on Constitution Avenue, south of the White House, after Secret Service agents noticed the man behaving suspiciously while parked.

The man faces charges that include illegal transport and possession of firearms, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Prosecutors could add further counts as the investigation continues.

The United States Secret Service — whose primary responsibilities include protecting the president and other senior American officials — increased security measures around the White House in recent years, and the complex is surrounded by a taller security fence that extends farther than before.

Officials did not immediately release the suspect's name or additional details on whether he had approached the perimeter on foot. The investigation remains active.
