Gostivar and Shar Planina played a memorial basketball game on October 4, 2026 at 21:30 in the Mladost sports hall in Gostivar to honour Gjorgji Bozhinoski — Gjoke, a figure who left a deep mark on KK Gostivar and the town’s sporting life.
The match was staged in a competitive but respectful atmosphere, with both teams and the audience emphasising unity, mutual respect and the importance of preserving Bozhinoski’s memory.
Humanitarian focus
The event also had a humanitarian purpose: it was organised in cooperation with the HEMA-ONKO association, which provides support to oncology patients and their caregivers. Spectators made voluntary donations that were directed to those most in need.
Organisers publicly thanked everyone who took part in the charity initiative and underlined that, beyond the final score, "humanity, sport, togetherness and remembrance prevailed."
The memorial game combined sport and solidarity, using basketball as a way to commemorate a local sports worker while helping vulnerable individuals in the community.
