Alkazar Energy wind park in Shtip area to reach about $0.5 billion

Published: September 9, 2026, 12:36 — Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski visited the wind‑park project spanning the municipalities of Shtip, Radovish and Karbinci and said the investment by Alkazar Energy should eventually reach about half a billion dollars.

During the visit Mickoski described the project as a major greenfield energy investment and emphasised the investor's intention to expand activity in North Macedonia beyond this single site.

First‑phase financing and technical scope

Alkazar Energy announced that financing for the project's first phase has been closed at €180 million. That phase covers 131 megawatts of capacity with the installation of 21 wind turbines, and the funds were provided by the EBRD, IFC, Erste Bank and Sparkasse Bank.

The entire development is planned in three phases and will reach a total installed capacity of 396 megawatts with 54 wind turbines. According to the company, when complete the park should produce electricity for about 148,000 households and the implementation is expected to create nearly 300 jobs.

Mickoski noted the scheme foresees upgrades to road infrastructure in the municipalities crossed by the park and gave an annual production estimate: about one terawatt‑hour of renewable electricity per year, approximately one million megawatt‑hours.

"We are starting an investment that, when fully implemented, will be worth about half a billion dollars. But what additionally encourages me is the fact that I heard from the investor that their plans for investing in Macedonia do not start and end here; on the contrary, they have other plans as well," Mickoski said. He added that the Government will continue to support greenfield investments in the energy sector.
