Mickoski: Thessaloniki–refinery oil pipeline is full, fuel quantities secured
Mickoski visited Cheshinovo-Obleshevo, reiterated low fuel prices, ongoing talks with OKTA and denied plans to level electricity prices.

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the oil pipeline linking the port of Thessaloniki to the country’s refinery is full and that North Macedonia has secured fuel supplies through the end of the year. He spoke today during a visit to the Municipality of Cheshinovo-Obleshevo.
Pipeline full, talks with OKTA on extra discount
“We already have countries in Europe where diesel fuel and unleaded are sold for over three euros, 3.2, 3.3, even 3.5 euros per liter, while with us both diesel and unleaded 95-octane are under 1.6 euros per liter and the lowest price in Europe. And we will continue that policy. The situation is complex, unfortunately, in the world. I often say that we are in the peak of the greatest energy crisis humanity remembers and we are on the front line, the invisible, I would say and quiet, so to speak, Third World War. For now we are coping excellently; until the end of the year we have absolutely secured quantities of all types of fuels,” Mickoski said.
He added that he does not expect major turbulence next year but anticipates challenges. According to Mickoski, the pipeline that connects Thessaloniki port with the domestic refinery is under pressure and currently full, which ensures sufficient fuel quantities for Macedonian citizens.
“The pipeline that connects the port of Thessaloniki with our refinery is under pressure and full. There will be sufficient quantities of fuel for Macedonian citizens. And not only for Macedonian citizens, because we have the lowest fuel prices, citizens from neighboring countries come, fill up with us, which has doubled diesel consumption, especially in border areas,” he said, and noted that negotiations with OKTA continue regarding an additional discount.
Mickoski dismissed reports about an electricity price equalization before year-end as speculation and said that such a measure will not take place. “The same price remains since we were elected as the Government,” he stated.
