Hristijan Mickoski after Brvenica defeat: "We were alone against everyone, they had the support of demography, the national map and even a few 'Trojans'"

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski commented after his party's defeat in Brvenica, publishing a reaction on Facebook in which he framed the loss as the result of a concerted effort by opponents.

In his post Mickoski wrote that VMRO-DPMNE had been "alone against everyone" and listed what he said were the advantages used by the other side.

Party leader points to multiple factors

According to Mickoski's Facebook message, the rivals entered the contest with an electoral program and a concept, plus external supports that, in his view, affected the outcome.

He wrote: "We were alone against everyone, they had an electoral program and concept, they had the support of demography, the national map and even a few 'Trojans' to divert votes."

The tone of the post presents the defeat in Brvenica as the product of organized backing for the other side rather than a straightforward local setback for VMRO-DPMNE.

Mickoski's statement adds to the political debate following the vote in Brvenica and is likely to be taken up within his party as they assess next steps.
