Mickoski says economic growth expected at 3.5–4% this year
During a presentation of a new urban train, PM Hristijan Mickoski outlined recent GDP results and said growth is expected to continue despite challenges in Europe.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the country should expect economic growth to continue this year at between 3.5 and 4 percent, despite pressures coming from Europe — described by him as North Macedonia’s largest trading partner. He made the remarks while presenting a new urban train project and answering questions from journalists.
Mickoski reminded the audience that the current government was elected on 23 June 2024 and said that that year closed with a real GDP increase of 3 percent and a nominal rise of nearly 7 percent.
Figures for 2025 and the outlook
According to the prime minister’s account, the following year brought stronger growth. “We finished 2025 with 3.5% GDP growth, and the nominal was over 8% and we were among the top 5-6 countries in Europe,” he said.
The prime minister linked the projected continuation of growth to the wider European economic environment, acknowledging challenges there but stressing the government’s mandate to address citizens’ problems.
The comments were delivered during an event to promote the new city train, where Mickoski fielded media questions about the economy and the government’s performance since taking office.
