Mickoski declares victory for VMRO-DPMNE in Brvenica first round

Hristijan Mickoski, leader of VMRO-DPMNE and former prime minister candidate, declared his party the clear winner in the first round of the early mayoral vote in the municipality of Brvenica.

Election claim and numbers

Mickoski said that VMRO-DPMNE’s nominee, Stojanche Radichevski, received around 3.000 votes and that the gap with the SDSM candidate exceeded a four-to-one ratio. "VMRO-DPMNE is decisively first and has a huge victory in the first round of the mayoral elections in the municipality of Brvenica. Our candidate Stojanche Radichevski won an overwhelming majority of votes, and the margin compared to our competitors from SDSM is greater than 4 to 1", Mickoski said.

He also compared the result with repeat local contests in Mavrovo and Rostushe, saying that VMRO-DPMNE prevailed there with a margin larger than two-to-one.

The Interior Ministry reported separately that the extraordinary local elections in Brvenica concluded in order, without any incidents.

There has been no official, final certification of vote totals quoted here; Mickoski’s statements reflect his party’s assessment of the outcome after the first round.
