AC Milan secured a narrow victory over Atalanta on October 18, 2026, holding on to a 3:2 win at San Siro after seeing a 3:0 lead trimmed late in the match.
Match turning points
Gonzalo Ramos opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 24th minute after a VAR intervention showed a handball by Obrić. Milan doubled their lead in first-half stoppage time when Adrien Rabiot converted a precise finish following a smart assist from Diego Moreira.
The visitors were dealt another blow when Sead Kolasinac left the field injured in the first half, forcing Atalanta to reshuffle before the break.
After the interval, AC Milan kept up the pressure and Rafael Gila rose to head home from a Luka Modrić corner in the 57th minute to make it 3:0. Gonzalo Ramos then had a second penalty but saw it saved by Marco Carnesecchi.
Atalanta refused to give up: Gianluca Gaetano pulled one back with a left-footed strike in the 66th minute, set up by Nicola Zalewski, and Nikola Krstović reduced the deficit further in the 81st minute to 3:2, making for a nervy finish for the home side.
Milan ultimately preserved the lead and claimed three points from a game that looked settled at halftime but turned tense in the closing stages.
