Miloš Vučevic proposes Aleksandar Vučić to return as SNS president
Extraordinary SNS assembly set for 13 December after proposal by Miloš Vučevic; 657 main-board members were present.

Miloš Vučevic convened an extraordinary session of the Serbian Progressive Party’s (SNS) assembly for 13 December and formally proposed that Aleksandar Vučić return to the party’s presidency.
Speaking at the SNS main-board meeting in Belgrade, Vučevic told members: "As president of the SNS, I propose to you, members of the main board, to make a decision, to convene an extraordinary session of the SNS assembly for 13 December, where we will elect new party leadership and prepare the party for the period ahead."
Proposal seeks to restore Vučić as party leader
Vučevic proposed that Vučić resume the post he held from 2012 until 27 May 2023, when he stepped aside from the party leadership.
The main-board meeting was attended by 657 members, according to the party’s counts.
At the same gathering in Belgrade, Aleksandar Vučić addressed concerns about prosecutions following his party’s defeat in parliamentary elections and said he would defend people he described as politically persecuted. "I am guilty, let them prosecute me," the former president of Serbia declared.
Vučić also said he would not shield anyone who stole public money but would protect those he considers victims of political retribution. He added that during SNS rule the party had acted for the country’s good and that "no one got rich," contrasting that with opponents whom he said possess numerous houses and apartments at home and abroad. "We will protect and safeguard our people, and we will oppose them at every step," he said.
