MKK Kumanovo urges city to fill arena for Supercup

MKK Kumanovo will play the Supercup match at home as part of the city’s jubilee celebrations, taking on the reigning Macedonian champion in a fixture that the hosts say they will approach as underdogs with a chance to upset the favorite.

Stojan Gjurovski, the national-team wing of Kumanovo’s blue-and-whites, warned the encounter will be demanding but stressed that a full-effort display could put his side in contention.

"We expect an extremely tough game, against a quality opponent we know well. This year there have been changes in their roster, but we know it's a serious team that will compete on three fronts. It's up to us to give our maximum. If we give it, I think we have a chance to reach the desired victory," Gjurovski said.

Home crowd and city jubilee as added incentive

Gjurovski urged fans to turn the Supercup into a celebration of Macedonian basketball, noting the match’s timing alongside Kumanovo’s anniversary.

"I think it's important that Saturday becomes a big celebration of Macedonian basketball. The Supercup is being played in Kumanovo, and Kumanovo is celebrating a big jubilee. I think it will be an excellent occasion to celebrate together. I expect great support from the 'Kumani', I expect great support from the whole city. I hope the hall will be filled to the last seat and that at the end of the day we will achieve the desired goal — the victory," Gjurovski added.

Organizers and the club hope the atmosphere will boost the home team’s chances; earlier coverage from the domestic calendar noted Borislav Boshnakov’s three points for Rabotnicki against Teteks.
