Austrian injured and cut during early-morning robbery attempt in Skopje
23-year-old Austrian reported being attacked and cut with a sharp object during an attempted early-morning robbery in Skopje’s Centar district.

An Austrian national was injured during an attempted robbery in central Skopje in the early hours of Sunday, police said.
Police report and timeline
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the 23-year-old man reported the incident to the Skopje Police Department (SVR Skopje) on 09.08.2026 at 08:55. The victim told officers that the attack happened at about 04:30 in the Centar area.
"On 09.08.2026 at 08:55, at SVR Skopje, V.A.O.(23) from Austria reported that around 04:30 on the territory of Centar, two persons physically attacked him and attempted to take his money and personal items, during which one of them inflicted a cut on him with a sharp object. Measures are being taken to clarify the case," the police bulletin states.
The MIA statement did not give further details about the severity of the wound or whether the attacker(s) were detained. The report identifies the injured man only by his initials, V.A.O., and notes his age and nationality: 23, Austria.
Police said investigators have opened inquiries and are taking measures to locate the suspects and establish the full circumstances of the assault and attempted robbery.
