18-year-old motorcyclist from Jagodnjak dies after hitting a hare and colliding with a lamppost
The crash occurred last night at about 22:50 in Novi Čeminac; Beli Manastir police performed the inspection and the body was sent to KBC Osijek for autopsy.
An 18-year-old motorcyclist from Jagodnjak lost his life after his bike struck a hare and then collided with a streetlight pole late last night in Novi Čeminac.
Police: crash happened at about 22:50, rider wore a secured helmet
According to police reports, the rider was operating a motorcycle bearing Beli Manastir registration plates and was travelling from west to east when a hare ran onto the road. The motorcycle struck and ran over the animal, after which the rider lost control of the vehicle.
In an attempt to brake, the young motorcyclist hit a lamppost. He died at the scene from the severity of his injuries.
Authorities confirmed the rider was wearing a properly fastened protective helmet at the time of the crash.
The on-site inspection was carried out by police officers from Beli Manastir. At the request of the duty prosecutor from Osijek, the body was transferred to KBC Osijek for an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing as investigators collect evidence and clarify the circumstances of the collision.
