A 28-year-old resident of Tetovo will face criminal proceedings after the Tetovo Police Department says he falsely reported that his grandparents stole approximately 3,500,000 denars (around €57,000) from his home.

Police bulletin describes the filing and the alleged false statement

"The Tetovo Police Department filed a criminal complaint against T.M. (28) from Tetovo on grounds of suspicion for the criminal offense 'false reporting of a criminal offense' in connection with the offense 'theft'. On 03.03.2026 at the Tetovo Police Department, the reported person falsely stated that on 01.03.2026 in his home his grandfather and grandmother had taken cash in the amount of around 3,500,000 denars," the police bulletin says.

According to the police text, the report was made at the Tetovo police station on March 3, 2026, when the man declared that the alleged theft had occurred on March 1, 2026. The cash sum he reported equals roughly €57,000.

The bulletin states that authorities have submitted a criminal complaint against the 28-year-old for making a false criminal report linked to a theft allegation. He is expected to answer for the offence under the relevant criminal provisions.

No additional details about motives, evidence or the state of the investigation were included in the bulletin.

The police announcement was limited to the procedural step of filing the complaint; further developments in the case will depend on the ongoing investigation and any charges brought by prosecutors.
