Ministry confirms Slovenia crash: two minors among three Macedonian fatalities

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade confirmed that three Macedonian citizens died in a traffic accident in Slovenia on August 27, and that two of the deceased were minors.

The collision occurred on the A1 motorway near Unec, the ministry said in a notice delivered to the Embassy of North Macedonia in Ljubljana. Five Macedonian nationals were travelling in the passenger car; three died at the scene and two were injured and taken for medical treatment.

“In the accident three people lost their lives — one adult and two minors, citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia,” the ministry stated.

Police: car struck a parked truck trailer

Slovenian police reported that the passenger vehicle hit the trailer of a truck that had been stopped on the motorway because of a defect. The exact causes and full circumstances of the crash will be determined by the competent Slovenian authorities.

Local authorities in Koper are handling the case, and the Embassy of North Macedonia in Ljubljana remains in constant communication with Slovenian institutions as they follow the further procedure.
