Mohamed Salah reportedly to receive Turkish citizenship and state medal

Mohamed Salah is reportedly set to receive Turkish citizenship together with his wife and three children, and a state ceremony is being prepared in which he would be awarded a national medal, according to correspondent Mohamed El Kaoud.

Details, reaction and what remains unconfirmed

El Kaoud said: "I learned that Mohamed Salah will receive Turkish citizenship along with his wife and three children. Salah will be awarded the State Medal of Distinguished Service in a grand ceremony and will receive another high honor after contributing to significant progress in both sport and tourism in a short time," El Kaoud said. The claim has not been officially confirmed.

A source at Trabzonspor told an Egyptian outlet that Turkish authorities had not formally contacted Salah about citizenship. The club has only informed the player about a planned meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan; the date of that meeting has not been specified.

Salah has quickly become one of the biggest attractions in Trabzon since his arrival at the club. His popularity has drawn football fans and tourists to the city, and local officials have reportedly taken steps toward naming a street after him.

On the pitch, Salah started in Trabzonspor's 2-0 win over Gaziantep in the 10th round of the Turkish Süper Lig. The victory lifted the team to third place with 22 points, three points behind leaders Galatasaray.

Until an official confirmation is released by the authorities or the club, the story remains based on media reporting and statements from individuals close to the club.
