Ministry of Interior to activate Safe City system in Ohrid police area from Monday
Ministry of Interior: cameras go live after final tests to strengthen traffic control and improve road safety.

The Ministry of Interior announced that from Monday, October 12, 2026, the Safe City system will be put into operation in the area covered by the Ohrid Police Directorate (SVR Ohrid).
Traffic cameras activated after final technical checks
"After the completed technical checks and the final tests, the system's cameras will be put into operation on the roadways in the area of SVR Ohrid.
With the activation of the system, reinforced and continuous traffic control will be enabled, timely detection of traffic violations, an increase in traffic discipline and the improvement of road safety," the Ministry of Interior said.
The ministry said the new cameras will monitor key road corridors within the police area and will be used primarily for traffic enforcement and safety monitoring.
Authorities expect the system to strengthen continuous traffic oversight and to speed up detection of violations, measures they say will raise overall traffic discipline and contribute to safer roads in the Ohrid region.
No additional operational timetable or list of precise camera locations was published in the ministry statement.
