MZT Skopje wins Super Cup in Kumanovo, 70-68
Reigning champions MZT Skopje held off a late Kumanovo comeback to lift the Super Cup after a 70-68 victory.
MZT Skopje retained the Super Cup after a tense finish in Kumanovo, edging the hosts 70-68 on September 26, 2026. The reigning Macedonian champions controlled much of the game and held on despite a late Kumanovo rally that produced a nervy ending.
Close game decided in final minute
The first half in Kumanovo was competitive. The home side opened better and led 8-16 after early points from Krstevski, but MZT recovered with contributions from Nikolic, Vojdan Stojanovski and Luka Stojanovski to level at 18-18. The scoreboard read 22-21 after ten minutes, and the visitors pushed to a 39-33 advantage at the main break.
After halftime MZT extended the margin to its biggest of the game at +8 (51-43) through Vojdan and Luka Stojanovski. Kumanovo answered with a 6-0 run to close to 51-49, and Vojdan later hit an important three to make it 58-51 before the fourth quarter.
The opening minutes of the last quarter were scrappy, but MZT still managed to build a double-digit lead, 64-51, and later went up 70-60. Kumanovo staged a dramatic comeback in the final minute to cut the gap to 70-68 but failed to convert their last possession that could have tied the game.
The win completes a deserved triumph for MZT Skopje, who led for large stretches. For Kumanovo, the defeat is especially painful as the club marked 80 years of basketball and missed the chance to celebrate the anniversary with a historic trophy.
