Veteran striker brought in to boost Barnsley
The 39-year-old forward spent last season with Cremonese and entered the summer without a club before completing the move to Barnsley on 06.09.2026. The deal reunites Vardy with the English game after his spell in Italy.
Vardy built the bulk of his career at Leicester, where he was part of the side that won the Premier League title in the 2015/16 season. During his long spell with the Foxes he scored 200 goals in 500 appearances.
Barnsley sit bottom of the Championship after five rounds, with only two points, and the club view Vardy as a major signing to try to turn their season around.
The one-year contract gives Barnsley an experienced goal-scorer who can lead the line and provide both goals and leadership as the club seeks to climb the table.
