Over 90 lizards and venomous snakes found in suitcase at Cologne-Bonn Airport
A 45-year-old Mexican national tested positive for cocaine and officers discovered over 90 reptiles hidden in his luggage at Cologne-Bonn Airport.

A passenger at Cologne-Bonn Airport was stopped by customs after officers discovered more than 90 lizards and venomous snakes in his checked luggage.
The man, a 45-year-old Mexican national, drew attention when he tried to pass through the green corridor reserved for travelers with nothing to declare. Customs officers said he appeared visibly agitated.
Drug test and inspection
Because of his behaviour, customs personnel administered a drug test, which returned positive for cocaine. Following that result, they opened and inspected his suitcase.
Inside the luggage customs found over 90 reptiles — a mixture of lizards and venomous snakes — concealed among personal items. Authorities secured the animals and removed them from the travel flow.
Customs officials said further procedures will follow as they complete their inquiries. Details about potential charges, the species involved, or the destination of the animals were not disclosed.
