Nagelsmann tipped as option to replace Martin Demichelis at RB Leipzig
Nagelsmann is being considered as a possible replacement if RB Leipzig move on from Martin Demichelis after a difficult start to the season.

Julian Nagelsmann has been named as a possible successor at RB Leipzig should the club decide to end its collaboration with current head coach Martin Demichelis. Media reports say Demichelis is under increased pressure after a poor start to the season: Leipzig sit ninth in the Bundesliga and lost their opening Champions League match.
Why Nagelsmann is on the shortlist
Nagelsmann, who is currently without a club, remains highly regarded within the Red Bull football network and is viewed internally as someone who understands the organisation’s methods and expectations. That familiarity has kept his name in the mix as Leipzig evaluate their options.
Oliver Mintzlaff, chairman of RB Leipzig’s supervisory board, is reported to still back the German coach, a factor that could be decisive if the club chooses to change course. Any move would depend on the club’s assessment of immediate results and the timing of a potential coaching change.
Nagelsmann previously managed RB Leipzig from 2019 to 2021. During that spell the club reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the first time in its history — a milestone often cited when discussing his credentials.
For now Leipzig remain with Demichelis at the helm, but the combination of underwhelming domestic form and an opening Champions League defeat has intensified scrutiny on the coaching position. If the club does make a change, Nagelsmann is likely to be among the names considered.
