Tacko Fall joins Philadelphia 76ers on two-way contract

Tacko Fall, the tallest active player listed in the NBA at 229 centimeters, has been given another opportunity in the league after the Philadelphia 76ers converted his contract into a two-way deal.

76ers add depth after roster injury

The move comes as Philadelphia seeks more size and rim protection following a serious Achilles injury suffered by Ariel Hukporti on 1 October. The club said the change will increase competition at the center position and give the coaching staff more options under the basket.

Fall joined the 76ers this preseason on an Exhibit 10 agreement and will now split time between the NBA club and its G League affiliate while he tries to win a regular rotation spot. The organization also cited his contribution to locker-room atmosphere in its decision.

Last season Fall played in China for the Ningbo Rockets, appearing in 38 games and averaging 11.2 points, six rebounds and 2.2 blocks per contest, with an impressive field-goal percentage of 80.1 percent.

His most recent NBA regular-season action came in 2021–22 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, when he appeared in 11 games and averaged 1.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 5.4 minutes per game. Undrafted in 2019, Fall spent two seasons with Boston before signing with Cleveland; across three NBA seasons he has totaled 37 games with averages of 2.2 points and 2.4 rebounds.

The two-way contract will allow Fall to play for both the 76ers and Philadelphia’s G League team while he pursues a more permanent role on the NBA roster.
