Industry employment in North Macedonia fell 2.6% in July 2026
Year‑on‑year decline driven mainly by gains in Mining and across several industrial groups
Employment in the industrial sector in North Macedonia fell by 2.6% in July 2026 compared with the same month a year earlier, according to data from the State Statistical Office.
Sector and group breakdown
By sector, the biggest drop was in Mining and quarrying (−7.8%). Manufacturing recorded a decline of 2.3%, while Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply fell by 0.9%.
Looking at main industrial groups, employment fell in Energy by 3.3%, in Capital goods by 2.3%, in Non-durable consumer goods by 3.6%, in Intermediate goods, except energy by 2.4%, and in Durable consumer goods by 2.0% in July 2026 compared with July 2025.
