Levante v Athletic Bilbao postponed after heavy rain
Torrential rain flooded the Ciutat de València pitch during warm-ups; referees and LaLiga suspended the sixth-round match.

Heavy rain forced the Levante vs Athletic Bilbao LaLiga fixture to be called off minutes before kick-off on September 16, 2026. The sixth-round match at the Ciutat de València was suspended after torrential downpours flooded the pitch during the teams' final warm-ups.
Flooded pitch and stadium access
Match officials led by referee Alejandro Quintero Gonzalez held an emergency meeting in the tunnel when large pools of water formed on the playing surface. Reporters and stadium staff later described flooding that reached the press room and several main spectator entrances.
The storm intensified while supporters were still in the stands, prompting many fans to leave their seats and seek shelter. With forecasts predicting continued heavy rain in the hours ahead, the refereeing team and LaLiga confirmed the decision to suspend the match.
In a post on the club's official account Athletic Club wrote: "After the relevant checks by LaLiga and the refereeing team, it has been decided to suspend the match #LevanteUDAthletic due to adverse weather conditions at the Ciutat de València ⛈️ #AthleticClub 🦁"
Both clubs and LaLiga will now arrange a new date for the game; no rescheduled date has been announced yet. The cancellation comes as the two teams were due to meet in LaLiga's sixth round at Ciutat de València.
