Rot‑Weiss Essen fans concreted shut entrance to RB Leipzig away end

Rot‑Weiss Essen supporters concreted shut the entrance to the away end before the second‑round DFB‑Pokal match against RB Leipzig on October 27, 2026, in an attempt to prevent visiting fans from entering the stadium.

Home supporters left a written message at the blocked gate reading, "The Bulls must stay out today!" as a direct provocation toward RB Leipzig followers. Organisers in Essen expect about 500 travelling fans from Leipzig for the cup tie.

Quick response from the hosts

The club immediately engaged construction workers to remove the concrete and reopen the route for visiting supporters so the match could go ahead under normal conditions. Local match organisers said the work was undertaken as a priority to avoid disruption.

So far, German authorities have not reported any arrests in connection with the incident.

Social media captured the early scenes: "AWAY END BLOCKED OFF! 🧱👷\n\nIn a late-night operation, Essen fans have CONCRETED SHUT the entrance to the away end ahead of tonight’s DFB-Pokal clash against RB Leipzig! 💥\n\n🛑 A clear message to the so-called “Red Bull” project: “Bulls must stay out today!” 🐂😂\n\n🔥 The cup tie hasn’t even kicked off, and already great scenes happening! 🏟️\n\n— 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 (@thecasualultra) October 27, 2026".
