Nedim Klepić sentenced to 16 years for killing of Mirnes Zahirović

The Cantonal Court in Novi Travnik has sentenced Nedim Klepić to 16 years and three months in prison and his relative Almin Klepić to five years for the killing of Mirnes Zahirović on December 26, 2024 in the village of Karaula near Travnik.
Background and motive
The court found both men guilty of the December 26, 2024 killing and linked the attack to a family tragedy that began a decade earlier: in that earlier incident Mirnes Zahirović had been convicted for the stabbing death of Nedim Klepić’s son, Ajdin. Zahirović had been sentenced in that case to three years and six months in prison.
The first attack happened in Donji Krčevini in front of the Klepić family house. According to the case details, Zahirović stabbed the 20-year-old Ajdin in the chest, inflicting fatal wounds; Nedim Klepić himself suffered minor injuries in the same incident. Ajdin’s death left a lasting impact on the family and their sense of justice.
Prosecutors and court documents tied the December 2024 killing to long‑standing anger over the earlier sentence, which the Klepić family considered too lenient. The court also ordered the convicted men to pay jointly 2,386 convertible marks for the costs of the criminal procedure, plus additional court and medical expenses assessed during the process.
The two sentences close another chapter in a case that has stretched over more than ten years and reopened public attention to both crimes. The court’s ruling did not specify whether the decision is final or whether the parties intend to lodge appeals.
