Netanyahu rejects Trump's 15‑point Gaza plan
Prime minister says the army will not pull back until Hamas is truly disarmed; clashes have continued since the October ceasefire.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a US-drafted 15-point plan for Gaza, saying the Israeli Defence Forces will not withdraw until Hamas is genuinely disarmed.
According to the plan announced last month by Donald Trump's peace committee, the document included provisions aimed at the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed factions in the Gaza Strip.
Stalled diplomacy and firm conditions
Hamas responded that it would surrender its heavy weapons only if Israel ceased all forms of aggression and pulled its forces out of Gaza, making the committee's disarmament benchmark conditional on an Israeli withdrawal.
Netanyahu's rejection underscores the gap between the US-backed proposal and the conditions set by Hamas; the prime minister insisted that Israeli forces will remain until a verifiable and lasting disarmament is achieved.
The military campaign in and around Gaza has continued despite an earlier, limited ceasefire agreed in October, and recent exchanges suggest that neither side has moved toward a settlement that would implement the 15-point plan.
