Unemployment in Germany surpassed the 3.007 million mark in July
In July the number of unemployed increased by 71,000 and reached 3.007 million, while the unemployment rate climbed to 6.4 percent.

The number of unemployed in Germany rose by 71,000 in July and reached 3.007 million, according to the latest data from the Federal Employment Agency. This increase ended hopes for a possible stabilization of the labor market.
Signs of tougher conditions in the market
Compared with the same month last year, 28,000 more people were registered as unemployed. The unemployment rate increased by 0.2 percentage points compared with the previous month and now stands at 6.4 percent.
Employment agencies had earlier warned that, in the medium term, more difficult conditions on the labor market are expected. The country has seen a continuous rise in unemployment over the past four years.
In June, 2.936 million unemployed were recorded, which was 22,000 more compared with the same period the previous year. The July increase continues the trend observed in recent months.
Experts will monitor these figures as an indicator of whether the labor market is entering a slower phase of recovery; if the rise continues, employment support policies may be reviewed.
