Nikola Jokic could become the recipient of the largest contract in NBA history if he signs a new deal next summer, according to current projections. If the Serbian center stays with the Denver Nuggets, estimates put a five-year contract at roughly $360 million.
Decision delayed for a bigger payday
Jokic has not yet extended his contract with Denver because he chose to wait for a more lucrative offer next year. This season he was reportedly presented with a four-year extension worth $278 million but declined in order to hold out for a stronger proposal.
Sports analyst Kevin O'Connor has noted that the Nuggets should not assume Jokic will automatically remain in Denver, underscoring the leverage the multiple-time MVP holds in negotiations.
Jokic himself confirmed his intentions this summer, saying: "The plan is to sign next summer and to remain in Denver until the end of my career."
Widely regarded as one of the most versatile centers in league history, Jokic combines scoring, rebounding and elite playmaking, consistently ranking among leaders in triple-doubles. He won three regular-season MVP awards and in 2023 guided Denver to the franchise's first championship, earning Finals MVP honors.
Drafted into the NBA in 2015, Jokic has been the cornerstone of the Nuggets' long-term strategy, and while the dollar figures remain projections, the expectation in basketball circles is that he will likely finish his career in Denver.
