Nikola Serafimov, the Macedonian centre‑back for Levski Sofia, confirmed on social media that he escaped a serious injury after being forced off during the club’s trip to Slavia. Serafimov left the pitch at the end of the first half and was taken to hospital straight away amid fears over his right shoulder or a possible fractured elbow.
Player update after dramatic moment in Ovcha Kupel derby
Levski secured a 2:1 victory in what has been described as the oldest derby in the capital, played at Ovcha Kupel. Following the match, Serafimov addressed the club’s supporters online and provided an update on his condition.
In his post he wrote: "Fortunately, everything went well and without serious consequences, although at first glance it looked scary. Thank you all for the messages and support. I love you! I hope to see you again on the pitch as soon as possible. Big win today! ONLY LEVSKI."
The defender did not specify a precise recovery timetable in the message. Club medical staff escorted him from the stadium and carried out initial examinations in hospital, with the main concerns reported as a shoulder strain or a broken elbow.
Levski’s win in Ovcha Kupel keeps the team’s momentum after a tightly contested encounter; the club and its fans will now await the results of further medical checks to determine Serafimov’s availability for the coming fixtures.
