Novak Djokovic came from a set down to defeat Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals of the China Open in Beijing on 4 October 2026, winning by sets 4:6, 6:4, 6:4 and advancing to the tournament semi-finals.

Thrilling comeback sets up Djokovic–Medvedev clash

The encounter unfolded as a tense, see‑sawing contest in which Djokovic at times appeared on the brink of defeat. After dropping the opening set 4:6 he steadied his game and took the next two sets by identical 6:4 scores.

Djokovic showed the resilience that has marked his career, overcoming nerves and pressure to reverse the momentum late in the match and secure the victory in Beijing.

His next opponent will be Daniil Medvedev; that semi-final is scheduled for 5 October 2026.

The win keeps Djokovic in the hunt for the China Open title and guarantees him a place among the last four at the ATP event in Beijing.
