Novak Djokovic to start his US Open campaign on August 30 against Mariano Navone
The schedule shows Novak Djokovic will open his US Open campaign on Sunday, August 30, against Mariano Navone with a 19:00 local (01:00 CET) start.
The final Grand Slam of the season, the US Open, opens this Sunday in New York and the tournament has published the day-by-day order for first-round matches.
Novak Djokovic is scheduled to make his tournament debut on Sunday, August 30, when he meets Argentine Mariano Navone — currently No. 44 in the world — a player best known for his results on clay.
Match slot and kickoff time
Djokovic and Navone will be the first match in the evening session. The pair are due on court at 19:00 local time, which corresponds to 01:00 Central European Time.
Navone’s reputation as a clay-court specialist suggests an unconventional first-round test for Djokovic on the hard courts of New York, a contrast that adds interest to the opening match-up.
Carlos Alcaraz, returning to competition after a multi-month break, is scheduled to play on Monday.
The early scheduling means fans in Europe should plan for a late-night start to follow Djokovic’s opening match on Sunday into the early hours of Monday.
