Novak Djokovic falls to No. 12 in ATP rankings after US Open exit
First-round elimination at the US Open and Frances Tiafoe's comeback win over Alex Michelsen moved Djokovic down to 12th in the ATP rankings.
Skopje, 10.09.2026 — The greatest tennis player of all time, Novak Djokovic, is no longer part of this season's US Open field, and his first-round elimination has cost him further ground in the ATP rankings.
Djokovic had already slipped out of the season's Top 10 after his early exit at the latest Grand Slam and fell to No. 11 at the time. Overnight in New York another development pushed him down one more place.
Frances Tiafoe moves into the top 10
American Frances Tiafoe staged a comeback in a U.S. domestic derby, defeating Alex Michelsen 3–2. That result allowed Tiafoe to overtake Djokovic on the rankings and enter the ATP top 10.
As a consequence of Tiafoe's win, Djokovic is now listed at No. 12 on the ATP ranking. The update was confirmed following the matches in New York on 10.09.2026.
The change marks another setback for Djokovic's position on the tour leaderboard this season after his early departure from the US Open.
