Novak Djokovic wins hearts again during Montenegro holiday

02.08.2026 — Novak Djokovic has once again shown why many consider him exceptional, this time during a private holiday on the Adriatic coast of Montenegro.

The world number one will remain on vacation for a few more days before starting preparations for his trip to the United States, where he will first play at the Cincinnati Masters and then at the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the season.

During his stay Djokovic has been visible on social media doing beach workouts and cruising by yacht with his family, but a recent photo that went viral captured him stopping to take a selfie with people on a boat who asked him for a picture.

An Instagram user who was in the photo posted a message that underlined Djokovic's reputation off the court as well as on it. She wrote:

“Some people win trophies, and some people win hearts. Novak managed to do both. Thank you for stopping, for taking a moment for us and once again showing why you are much more than the greatest tennis player of all time. Your humility, smile and humanity are worth as much as all your achievements. This is not just the best selfie I have. This is a memory I will cherish forever. Thank you, legend. Once again you have shown what kind of person you are.” — Instagram post

Fans and commentators noted the gesture as another example of Djokovic's ability to combine sporting excellence with a personable public image, ahead of his return to competitive action in Cincinnati and New York.
