Israeli airstrikes on Kfar Ruman kill at least 12

At least 12 people, including children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the village of Kfar Ruman in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported. Several others were wounded, and one of the dead was a hospital worker.

Army says strikes were a response to explosive drones

The Israeli military said the strikes were carried out in response to attacks using explosive drones that Hezbollah launched toward Israeli soldiers. Israeli forces also reported they hit a Hezbollah member who was transporting weapons toward Kfar Ruman. Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility for the drone attacks.

The violence marks a fresh escalation despite a ceasefire reached more than two months ago. Israel recently said it had established "operational control" over the strategic hill Ali Taher, while a U.S.-mediated agreement on Israeli withdrawal and Hezbollah disarmament has shown only limited progress so far.

Local health authorities in Lebanon provided the casualty figures and said emergency teams were treating the wounded. The strikes add to tensions along the Israel–Lebanon border, where exchanges of fire and targeted operations have continued intermittently since the wider cross-border conflict.

Diplomatic and military officials in the region are monitoring the situation closely amid concerns the clashes could widen. Humanitarian agencies and medical teams in southern Lebanon face increased pressure as they respond to the new casualties.
