Belgian prosecutors seek two years' prison for Radja Nainggolan
Belgian prosecution seeks two years in prison and a €105,000 fine for Radja Nainggolan over alleged money‑laundering tied to a major drug case.

The public prosecutor in Belgium is seeking a two-year prison sentence and a €105,000 fine for former Belgium international Radja Nainggolan, who is accused of money laundering in a major narcotics trafficking case. The demand was filed as part of wider proceedings connected to organised drug trade, prosecutors say.
Prosecutors outline alleged financial links
According to the indictment, Nainggolan—who continues to play football for Patro Eisden—was not charged with selling drugs himself nor with membership in a criminal organisation. Instead, the case focuses on alleged illegal financial transactions and the laundering of proceeds from criminal activities.
Prosecutors claim that over several months Nainggolan received more than €100,000 from Nasr Edin Sekaki, the brother of known Belgian criminal Ashraf Sekaki, and then returned the funds in instalments into the account of the brothers' mother.
The requested penalty—two years behind bars plus a €105,000 monetary fine—was announced in filings dated October 30, 2026. The matter is part of a larger investigation into drug trafficking networks in Belgium.
Nainggolan's current club, Patro Eisden, and his legal representatives have not publicly detailed any defence in court filings available at this stage. The former international's football career has continued even as the criminal case proceeds.
