From Oldenburg to the Manaki Brothers: Macedonian premiere for "You Won't Believe What Happened Before"

After its world premiere in the official competition at the International Film Festival in Oldenburg, the Macedonian feature film "You Won't Believe What Happened Before" will have its Macedonian premiere at the closing of the 47th International Festival of the Film Camera "Manaki Brothers" in Bitola.

From Germany straight to Bitola

The film will debut before an international audience in Oldenburg from 16 to 20 September, and the Macedonian premiere is scheduled for the closing of the "Manaki Brothers" festival, which will be held from 19 to 25 September.

"The closing film will also be Macedonian. It is the debut film of Srdjan Janicijevic, 'You Won't Believe What Happened Before'; the cinematographer is Dejan Dimeski, one of the more prominent cinematographers of the new Macedonian filmography," said program selector Sladjan Penev.

The film is directed by Srdjan Janicijevic; it is a political thriller with elements of black comedy that focuses on the struggle for truth, freedom of journalism and the attempt to preserve personal and professional integrity in a society where politics, crime and the media are intertwined.

The film is financed by the Film Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia. Executive producer is Sasho Peshev, and the production was carried out by Novo Makedonsko Video and New Moment. The idea is by Srdjan Janicijevic, and the screenplay is written by Sasho Kokalanov and Dejan Dukovski.

The leading roles are played by Nikola Ristanovski and Darja Rizova, and the cast also includes Sashko Kocev, Sara Sandeva and Oliver Mitkovski. The director of photography is Dejan Dimeski; the editor is Martin Ivanov; the composer is Igor Vasilev Novogradska; production designer is Ivan Bartling; costume designer Lidija Georgieva; makeup designer Snezana Angelovska Zhivkovska; and sound designer is Darko Spasovski.
