Seized vehicles moved to MIA sites in Skopje, not parked outside police stations
Vehicles previously held before police stations in Veles will be transferred to designated Ministry of Interior locations in Skopje until court rulings.
For years the parking lot in front of the Veles Police Station was where seized vehicles were left after any misdemeanor or criminal offense. Even this spring, local authorities in Veles granted temporary use of a site near the town to store those cars, but the lot eventually filled again with newly impounded vehicles.
Ministry: relocation to MIA sites in Skopje
During a visit to Veles yesterday there were no impounded cars parked in front of the station. When asked whether they had been removed because of his visit, Minister Panche Toshkovski said that "This is a project under which all such vehicles will be relocated until a final court decision."
Authorities say the plan shifts custody of seized vehicles away from local police station lots and toward designated Ministry of Interior (MIA) locations in Skopje. The measure is presented as temporary and tied to the status of ongoing court proceedings.
Local officials had expected the temporary site provided this spring to relieve pressure on the police-station parking, but the recurring influx of newly impounded vehicles had again crowded available space.
Officials have not released a detailed timetable for completing the transfers, but presented the relocation as a broader administrative project aimed at centralizing storage until cases are resolved in court.
