Massive Cocaine Shipment from Ecuador Intercepted in Italy: Drugs Marked with Serbian Flag

A massive quantity of high-quality drugs, with an estimated black market value of a staggering 250 million euros, has been seized during a major police operation in northwestern Italy. The impressive cargo of over 770 kilograms of cocaine was discovered by the financial police in the port city of Vado Ligure. This seizure represents a severe blow to international drug smuggling networks operating on the European continent.

The narcotics were precisely packed into 650 separate blocks and extremely carefully camouflaged within a specialized refrigerated container. According to official documentation, this container was transporting dozens of pallets of fresh bananas, having started its long journey from an Ecuadorian port before finally arriving on European soil. The smugglers evidently hoped that the legal fruit cargo would deceive customs controls.

What particularly caught the attention of the public and the media is the specific visual identity of the illegal shipment. In official video materials shared by the Italian financial police, it is clearly visible that the cocaine packages are branded with the national flag of the Republic of Serbia. For now, investigative authorities are not revealing details on whether this symbol directly indicates the involvement of Balkan criminal syndicates in organizing the transport. Furthermore, it remains unknown whether any individuals with Serbian citizenship have been detained, nor has the final destination of this enormous shipment been determined.

This successful police action is the direct result of intensified and continuous controls on maritime routes connecting South America with Europe. The port of Vado Ligure has recently been rapidly growing into a key logistical hub for legal trade. It is precisely this increased flow of goods that simultaneously makes the port an extremely attractive target for international smuggling networks attempting to exploit the crowds for their illegal activities.
