Ohrid boosts security and hygiene as thousands visit in peak season

Ohrid is experiencing heightened security and intensified municipal services as the town fills with visitors at the height of the tourist season. With thousands of guests already in the city, authorities have increased patrols and visible policing across popular areas.

Police presence has been stepped up on beaches, around cultural and historical monuments, at concerts, in hospitality venues, on main squares and other well-known gathering points. Officers from Serbia are assisting local forces, and the roads leading to Ohrid are being monitored by Safe City cameras.

Municipal crews working around the clock

Municipal public utilities are operating at full capacity to meet demand. The public enterprise Ohridski Komunalec has deployed staff on a 24-hour basis to maintain cleanliness and hygiene across the city.

Tourists interviewed in Ohrid say they are satisfied with the offerings this summer. Guests come from around the world, though visitors from neighboring countries make up the largest share.

People working in the tourism sector say future priorities should include broadening the range of services and extending the season by promoting alternative forms of tourism. Officials and industry representatives expect continued coordination between security services and municipal teams as the season continues.
