Ohrid Airport Set a Record in July, Growth Also in Skopje — Macedonian Airports Among the Fastest‑Growing in Europe
Ohrid Airport set daily and monthly records in July, while Skopje recorded double‑digit passenger growth; ACI Europe ranks the country among the fastest‑growing in the first half of 2026.
Macedonian airports recorded their best month to date in July 2026, led by a historic record in Ohrid and strong growth in Skopje, according to data from operator TAV Macedonia and a report by ACI Europe for the first half of the year.
Ohrid Airport "St. Apostle Paul" served 52,544 passengers in July, an increase of 41.2 percent compared to July last year, with 443 flights operated, a rise of 34.6 percent. Two new daily records were also set during the month: on July 26 some 2,988 passengers were served, and on July 20 a record 22 flights were operated.
Challenging growth in the first seven months
On an annual basis, from January to July, 175,182 passengers passed through Ohrid, an increase of 24.2 percent, and the number of flights reached 1,350, 28.7 percent more compared to the same period last year.
Skopje International Airport served 408,925 passengers in July, 29.5 percent more than in July 2025, and operated 2,670 flights, an increase of 10.3 percent. The busiest day was July 31 with 16,347 passengers, while the highest number of flights — 101 — was operated on July 20.
Together, the two airports served more than 2.4 million passengers and carried out 16,280 flights from January to July, representing a 28.4 percent increase in passenger traffic and an 8.6 percent rise in the number of operations compared to the same period last year.
In the Airports Council International – Europe report for the first half of 2026, North Macedonia is the leader among non-EU countries by passenger traffic growth at 27.9 percent, ahead of Moldova, Albania, Uzbekistan, Armenia and Montenegro. Skopje Airport is also ranked among the fastest-growing medium-sized airports, with growth of 28.6 percent.
The general director of TAV Macedonia, Nedžat Kurt, assessed that the record results show that investments in new air routes, the expansion of airport infrastructure and cooperation with institutions are yielding concrete results. He noted that, despite the reconstruction of Ohrid Airport, scheduled flights and passenger services are proceeding smoothly.
