A 73-year-old resident of Ohrid has been charged with two serious criminal offenses after allegedly pointing a firearm at a tourist from Skopje during an argument over a parking space over the Ilinden weekend.

Police say the incident happened inside a building on ASNOM Street on August 1, 2026.

According to the Ohrid Regional Police Department, the suspect, who did not have a firearm permit, confronted the visiting Skopje resident after a dispute about parking and at one point pointed the weapon at him.

“the reported person pointed a gun at a person from Skopje with whom he had previously argued over a parking space,” the Ohrid Regional Police Department said, identifying the location of the incident as a building on "ASNOM" Street in Ohrid on 01.08.2026.

Authorities have opened an investigation and the 73-year-old faces charges for illegal possession of a weapon and for the threats or use of a weapon in connection with the altercation. No further personal details about the suspect or the tourist were released by police.

Local prosecutors will decide on formal charges and possible detention measures as the case proceeds through the legal process.
