Three Turkish nationals charged in Skopje with attempted murder

The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje has ordered an investigative procedure against three individuals, citizens of the Republic of Turkey, suspected of participating as co-perpetrators in the criminal offence "murder" under Article 123 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 19 (attempt) of the Criminal Code.

How the attack unfolded

According to the prosecutor's findings, one of the suspects acted as an accomplice by guiding the other two, showing them the exact location and the entry code to a building on Prashka Street where two other Turkish citizens were staying.

The three alleged attackers entered the apartment and, with multiple stab wounds, attempted with intent to take the life of one of the victims. Another person who tried to intervene was wounded in the arm while trying to fend them off.

After the attack, all three suspects attempted to leave the country via the Blace border crossing. Two were stopped and detained; a proposal was filed to impose pretrial detention for them.

Law enforcement information indicates that the suspect who acted as the aider managed to flee to Kosovo. The competent public prosecutor has proposed detention in absentia and deprivation of liberty so that an international arrest warrant can be issued for him.

The investigation is ongoing and the prosecution has initiated the formal process to determine responsibility and to request appropriate custody measures.
