UN adds 61 companies to database of businesses linked to West Bank settlements

The UN human rights office on 25 September 2026 added 61 more companies to its database of businesses linked to Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, bringing the register to 214 firms. Among the newly listed are ADAMA (an Israeli pesticide maker now part of the Syngenta Group), the Israel-based real estate investment holding company Alony Hetz, and Spain’s Salvat Logistica. The database was originally published in 2020 and now includes companies based in Israel and ten other countries, including France, Germany, China and the United States. Why the list was expanded

OHCHR says the update targets businesses engaged in activities that help sustain or expand settlements — for example supplying construction or demolition equipment, providing surveillance or transport services, and offering utilities or financial services that support settlement infrastructure. The move is intended to increase pressure over settlement expansion in a territory home to more than three million Palestinians and over 500,000 Israeli settlers. Israel has repeatedly rejected the database as unfair to firms operating legally. "This is a distorted mechanism — created by a deeply flawed body with an automatic majority against Israel," Israel’s diplomatic mission said on Friday, alleging that the database was establish to "persecute" the Jewish state. OHCHR says companies under review are contacted and given an opportunity to respond; entries are made where there are "reasonable grounds" to believe a firm is involved in one or more of the listed activities.
